StudX Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy applies to StudX, a Horizon Synergy marketplace designed primarily for students and their communities.

This Policy supplements the Horizon Synergy Terms of Service and applies to listings, accounts, communications, transactions, services, and other activity conducted through StudX.

If this Policy conflicts with a product-specific agreement or applicable law, the applicable agreement or law will take precedence.

1. Permitted Use

StudX is intended to provide students with a trusted environment to:

  • Buy and sell lawful goods.
  • Offer and purchase lawful services.
  • Discover student businesses and vendors.
  • Communicate with other users.
  • Participate in student communities.
  • Arrange legitimate transactions between buyers and sellers.

Users must use StudX lawfully and responsibly.

2. Prohibited Goods and Services

Users may not list, sell, purchase, promote, or facilitate transactions involving unlawful, unsafe, or prohibited goods or services.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Illegal drugs or controlled substances.
  • Alcohol where prohibited by applicable law or StudX rules.
  • Firearms and ammunition.
  • Explosives.
  • Weapons or other prohibited items.
  • Poisonous, toxic, or otherwise dangerous substances.
  • Stolen property.
  • Counterfeit goods.
  • Fraudulent or illegally obtained products.
  • Goods or services intended to facilitate criminal activity.
  • Goods or services that violate applicable laws or regulations.

Sporting equipment may be permitted where lawful and appropriate, subject to StudX's rules and applicable law.

StudX may prohibit additional categories of goods or services where necessary to protect users, comply with payment-provider requirements, or manage platform risk.

3. Misleading or Fraudulent Listings

Users must provide accurate and reasonably complete information when creating listings.

Users may not:

  • Misrepresent the condition, quality, ownership, or characteristics of an item.
  • Use misleading photographs.
  • Advertise an item or service they do not intend or are unable to provide.
  • Falsify prices or transaction information.
  • Impersonate another person or business.
  • Attempt to manipulate reviews, ratings, transactions, or platform activity.
  • Provide fraudulent information during verification.

Materially misleading listings may result in additional fees, transaction cancellation, account restrictions, suspension, or termination.

4. Academic Integrity

StudX may be used to support legitimate student activities, but users may not use the platform to facilitate academic misconduct.

This includes offering or requesting services intended to:

  • Complete academic assessments on another person's behalf.
  • Impersonate another student.
  • Facilitate cheating.
  • Fraudulently obtain academic credentials or qualifications.

Legitimate tutoring, study assistance, educational materials, and similar services may be permitted.

5. User Conduct

Users must treat other users respectfully.

Users may not use StudX to:

  • Harass, threaten, intimidate, or abuse another user.
  • Discriminate unlawfully.
  • Share another person's private information without authorization.
  • Conduct scams or fraudulent schemes.
  • Circumvent StudX's payment or transaction systems for prohibited purposes.
  • Attempt to compromise or disrupt the platform.
  • Upload malicious software or harmful content.

6. Off-Platform Transactions

Users may communicate with one another outside StudX where appropriate.

However, users must not use off-platform communication or payment arrangements to deliberately circumvent StudX fees, safeguards, verification requirements, dispute mechanisms, or other platform controls where doing so violates StudX rules.

StudX cannot provide the same transaction protections for transactions conducted entirely outside the platform.

7. Enforcement

StudX may:

  • Remove prohibited listings.
  • Restrict listing or transaction functionality.
  • Require additional verification.
  • Cancel transactions.
  • Withhold or delay payouts where permitted and necessary.
  • Issue warnings.
  • Apply applicable fees or penalties.
  • Temporarily suspend accounts.
  • Permanently terminate accounts.

Serious or repeated violations may result in immediate suspension or termination without prior warning.

Where activity appears to involve serious unlawful conduct, StudX may preserve relevant information and refer the matter to appropriate authorities where legally permitted or required.
